Another day, another post about sleeping! This time, we’re digging deep into sleeping bras that are so comfortable you won’t feel any underwire digging into you during the night.
In my previous post, I discussed whether or not you should be wearing a bra to sleep, but ultimately the decision is down to personal preference. If you are team wear a bra to sleep, you’re in luck with this post, but equally if you are on the opposing team you’ll still find this useful should you ever want to take a walk on the wild side.
Let’s take a look at some sleeping bra options;
1. Curvy Kate
Curvy Kate have long been a hit with the fuller bust community, providing bra’s, lingerie and swimwear that compliment all figures and fill you with confidence.
My pick: In My Dreams Bralette (£16) Where do I start with this product? Breathable fabric, non padded, non wired and a boob separator to avoid your boobs falling into the middle of your chest during the night. It’s got it all, and retails for an incredibly affordable £16. It also gets better, this bralette goes up to a J Cup, so it’s great to see inclusive sizing. The only cause of concern I had is the level of support it could provide which isn’t convincingly demonstrated in the photos on their site where it appears quite flimsy. The video however, does a good job of alleviating this concern, and there are adjustable straps which can help lift your boobs into shape.
2. M&S
M&S has a very special place in my heart, because I had my first bra fitting in my local branch. They have a wide array of lingerie for fuller bust, though some of their designs are not always to my taste. If you’re just after a bra to sleep or lounge in and aren’t too worried about aesthetics, M&S is a great place to start especially given their pocket friendly prices.
My pick: Flexifit Non Wired F+ Sleep Bra (£16) A cheap and cheerful sleep bra, which would be a great start if you’re new to sleep bra’s. With this design, they have tried to allow for some boob separation which should help with comfort and prevent your boobs from moving around during the night. These are sized from UK 8 – 22 rather than bra sizes which is a small disadvantage in ensuring the perfect fit.
3. Figleaves
Figleaves are renowned for their supportive and inclusive clothing, including swimwear, lingerie and activewear for fuller bust women.
My pick: DD+ Comfort Cotton Modal Sleep Bra DD-GG (£24) This sleep bra promises maximum comfort with light support, which is all you need from a sleep bra. I would however, be skeptical on whether it would indeed support a large bust given the relatively low cut v-neckline which could cause some spillage during the night. The largest cup size on offer here is a GG which is a shame, but it does go up to 38 in the band size.
4. Bravissimo
It would be criminal to discuss bras for a fuller bust without mentioning this brand. Bravissimo have been around for years offering fashion for fuller bust women and they really know their stuff. No surprises here that they offer a pretty good selection of sleep bras.
My pick: Non-Padded Cami Sleep Bra (£34) A soft underband to support your ribcage, soft jersey fabric and super thick straps with padding for extra comfort, this is a solid choice for a sleep bra. The sizing goes all the way up to a K cup and 40 back so a great selection of sizing. While this bra is by no means extortionate, it is more expensive than some of the other options recommended which do pretty much the same thing. They also offer a padded alternative, which is £4 cheaper – score!
5. Big Bloomers Company
A new company I’ve come across is the Big Bloomers Company, who design underwear and hosiery with a focus on catering to the full range of UK sizes. However, while the sizes accommodate plus size with larger backs going up to 56E, they don’t cater to the full spectrum of fuller bust, with bras only able to fit up to an F cup. Something to bear in mind, but I certainly wouldn’t let that stray you away from checking out their bras.
My pick: All Woman Pull on Bra (£18.95) This seamless bra is all about comfort rather than support, with no clasps or back straps which is perfect for a sleep bra. A deep band and underbust seam will provide a small lift and some support, which is good news.The ruched design around the bust should allow some stretch to accommodate your bust, but if you are over a G cup I would suggest looking elsewhere.
So which sleeping bra will you try out next? My money is on the Curvy Kate ‘In my Dreams’ bralette – you just can’t go wrong with that price! Get in touch below and share your sleeping bra recommendations, or let us know your thoughts if you’ve tried any of these already.
